DESCRIPTION:
Edward Prior, London, England, triple cased verge fusee for the Turkish market, key wind and set, gilt plate movement with pierced and engraved balance cock, regulator plate, and pillars, in a sterling silver, open face triple case, the outer case with underpainted horn and pique decoration, inner cases with London hallmark, and date letter for 1837, white enamel dial signed "Edward Prior London", gold beetle and poker hands, serial #53734, 62mm, with carved tortoise shell chain.
CONDITION:
CASE: Outer case very good with minor insect damage to horn and one split, pins good, catch button worn through; Inner cases very good, minor scratches, bow worn; Small dent in catch button; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Hairlines in enamel, very light; Chips in enamel near center arbor; Scratches . HANDS: Good, with minor marks. MOVEMENT PLATES: Minor scratches on plate; Screws with minor oxide and loss to blue; Specks of dirt / dust. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks), out of beat, needs service. Chain good.
